Projects carried out by Enterprise Estonia

The following is a brief overview of projects for 2014–2020 that Enterprise Estonia is carrying out for the benefit of entrepreneurship, tourism and local development.

  • Export development activities

    Short description of the project
    Providing information that is necessary for entry into foreign markets, production of information materials, providing/mediation of consultation services, organising seminars and conferences, organising refresher training and internship opportunities. Activities that contribute to establishing business contacts and promoting international cooperation, incl. participation at international fairs. Creating the necessary trust credit for enterprises to enter foreign markets.

    Objective
    Providing grants is aimed at increasing entrepreneurship awareness and the spread of ambitious and innovative entrepreneurship. The objective of the projects is to help Estonian entrepreneurs develop and manufacture products and services more effectively and with higher added value, in order to increase their international competitiveness and export.

    Outcome
    As a result of carrying out support activities, business awareness and entrepreneurship in society will increase; the entrepreneurial competence of entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs will improve; the number of entrepreneurs’ contacts with potential partners on foreign markets and the domestic market will increase and their contact network will be developed and strengthened further; the relevant support services and information provided by the entrepreneurship support structure will also improve.

  • Providing consultation to exporters on foreign markets and involvement of foreign investments

    Short description of the project
    Activities carried out to bring foreign investments into Estonia, various consultation and marketing activities with the aim of attracting additional investments to Estonia, international know-how and export-oriented enterprises. Providing counselling to Estonian entrepreneurs for entering foreign markets and facilitating international cooperation. Consultation and support services provided by export advisers of Enterprise Estonia, services provided by a network of consultants.

  • Entrepreneurship awareness

    Short description of the project
    Increasing know-how and skills of start-up entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who are already active on the market in various fields, encouraging cooperation and the sharing of experiences both within Estonia and in foreign countries, conducting long-term training and counselling programmes. Increasing entrepreneurial activity, popularising entrepreneurial and innovative attitude and the career choice of an entrepreneur in society, shaping positive attitudes towards entrepreneurship, encouraging interest towards innovation.

  • Increasing awareness of Estonia as a travel destination

    Short description of the project
    During the project, marketing activities will be carried out on priority target markets – seminars, information days, trade fairs, sales visits; product familiarization trips will also be organised for entrepreneurs of target markets and parties interested in Estonia as a travel destination. Information mediums and distribution materials will be prepared for end-users; exhibitions, trade fairs, presentations, networking events, press trips and events will be organised for introducing Estonian tourism products, as will be campaigns for extending the tourism seasons and/or increasing tourism-related demand. Activities aimed at promoting domestic tourism will be focused on increasing demand during the low season and creating demand for tourism products outside Tallinn. Separate activities are planned for conference and business tourism target groups. A target-market-based marketing concept tool will be created (presentation, marketing materials, stylistics). Studies will be conducted to assess the situation of the tourism sector, to get input and to develop services.

    The objective of the project is to ensure Estonia’s competitiveness and international attraction as a tourism destination. The strategic a directions of project activities are increasing awareness of Estonia as a travel destination and managing tourism information.

    As a result of carrying out support activities, Estonia will be well-known in international target markets and highly valued as a travel destination domestically; information regarding tourism opportunities will readily available both during travel planning and when already travelling. As a result of the project activities, the number of overnight stays by tourists from priority foreign markets and domestic tourists in accommodation establishments will increase, awareness of end-users about the services offered by tourism enterprises and the tourism opportunities in Estonia will also increase, the visibility of Estonia as a travel destination and the number of media coverages will grow, cooperation of the public and private sector will intensify, satisfaction of visitors will improve and Estonia’s reputation as a conference destination will become more prevalent.

  • Developing the Tourism Information System

    Short description
    Activities of tourism information management are aimed at ensuring optimal availability of information and channels throughout the entire visitor’s journey, combining the availability of information provided via online channels and customer service. The primary activities are collecting, organising and distributing tourism information through electronic information channels as well as through visitor and tourist information centres, purchasing and renting hardware and software related to the development and implementation of tourism information, sharing the database of visitestonia.com through interfaces and developing the marketing channel puhkaeestis.ee, which supports domestic tourism.

    Objective
    The objective of the project is to ensure Estonia’s competitiveness and international attraction as a tourism destination. The strategic a directions of project activities are increasing awareness of Estonia as a travel destination and managing tourism information.

    As a result of carrying out support activities, Estonia will be well-known in international target markets and highly valued as a travel destination domestically; information regarding tourism opportunities will readily available both during travel planning and when already travelling.   • Managing the development of tourism products

    Short description
    Activities of tourism product development are aimed at developing cooperation networks for urban tourism, cultural tourism, nature and maritime tourism, health tourism, conference and business tourism, and family tourism. As part of the activities, guidelines are developed for entrepreneurs to aid them in the development and marketing of products that meet foreign market demands. Activities oriented at increasing the level of quality include the development and implementation of theme-based and target-group-based quality criteria, and the systematic development of management quality for entrepreneurs of the tourism sector. Activities aimed at promoting sustainable tourism include developing guidelines for sustainable development, raising awareness of sustainable development principles, and using international eco-labels (Green Key, EHE, EMAS, ISO). In order to improve tourism competence, an international tourism conference and a tourism education conference will be organised annually.

    Objective
    The aim of the project is to increase international competitiveness of the tourism sector through differentiation and the development of tourism products and services that meet the needs of visitors. Strategic directions include the development of theme-, segment- and destination-based tourism networks, the development of a tourism quality system and the implementation of sustainable tourism principles in all activities.

    Outcome
    As a result of the activities, Estonian tourism products and services will be more competitive internationally, at a higher quality level and in compliance with principles of sustainable development. As a result of further developing cooperation networks, cooperation will be strengthened among professional associations and developers of regional destinations and entrepreneurs. As a result of developing tourism products that capture new target groups, the economic indicators of entrepreneurs will improve.
