As production is becoming increasingly cheaper anywhere in the world, it is more and more difficult for businesses to stay competitive based only on price. To survive and grow, enterprises need to give their products added value for which the customer is willing to pay more. Meaning that with high-tech product development, the intellectual property created in enterprises and its conscious implementation in corporate strategy will become increasingly valuable.
Enterprise Estonia’s intellectual property (IP) services package provides support and opportunities for export-oriented enterprises to exploit their intellectual property to its full business potential. The services will help companies answer their strategic IP-related questions, such as:
According to the information of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), intangible components (including the brand, intellectual property, etc.), already constitute a third of the global production value and provide more than two times more added value than physical capital. Thus, contributing to the development and commercialising of intellectual property in an enterprise is a solid investment into its future.
The strategic consultation service provides quick answers to questions connecting business objectives with intellectual property (IP). When developing a new product or service, consult our intellectual property specialist before making it public! The specialist will help draw attention to the possible risks and the potential that accompanies the IP included in and surrounding your product and advise a course of action.
You have a new product and are preparing to enter a new market? How to ensure the market advantage of your core technology over its competitors? How serious is the potential threat from the local patent owners? How to create an additional revenue stream out of the intellectual property created during development? Product (or service) intellectual property diagnostics help you to find answers to all these questions.
Any enterprise that invests in product development, should also ensure that the consequential intellectual property, like any other asset, will be protected and exploited to its full business potential. If and when to apply for patents for the products of the enterprise, when and how to license technologies, how to find customers willing to pay for licences – these are the important questions that will be answered by the diagnostics.
The intellectual property services of Enterprise Estonia are open to entrepreneurs exporting products developed and manufactured in Estonia, or those who want to start doing so.
Enterprise Estonia shall not be held responsible for any decisions or actions of the service recipient, or any decrease in their profit, loss of income, loss of profit, non-pecuniary damages, or any other indirect damages.
Consultation services are free of charge for up to 2 hours of face-to-face time (up to 5 total work hours) but are subject to the rules of de minimis aid based on the service-providing specialist’s hourly rate. Diagnostics services are subject to a fee and the total cost will be calculated on the basis of the hourly rate of the specialist providing the service. The enterprise’s own contribution is 30% of the service cost, the remaining part of the service cost shall be included in the de minimis aid. You can check the balance of the company’s de minimis aid on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
