Development of creative industry

The creative industry has the increasing role in increasing the state competitiveness and development of knowledge-based economy. The creative industry means the economic sector based on individual and collective creativity, skills and talent and which is able to create welfare and jobs through the creating and use of intellectual ownership (the sector of creative industry includes, inter alia, architecture, audio visual sector, design, music, publishing etc.). The creative industry has an important role to fulfil in strengthening the competitiveness of the regions and developing the quality living environment, innovation policy and tourism development.
According to the limited treatment of creative industry the focal question of creative industry sector is how the sectors of entrepreneurship and economy can incur based on creativity and culture and the relevant economic environments can develop, how the employment and entrepreneurial activity can be improved etc.
Considering the social economic developments taken place and taking place in the future, the creativity is becoming the key component in several life sectors and this has a focal role in achieving not only the economic objectives, but also in improving the living environment, local living quality, competitiveness and attractiveness of the place etc. As a result the considerable role of the creative industry sector in directing the regional development, tourism development, increase of the export capacity of the state can be talked about.
The programme of awareness of creative industry under completion
The objective of the programme is the increase of the entrepreneurial awareness among the operating and potential creative entrepreneurs and the increase of the awareness of the entrepreneurs about the possibilities of involvement of the creative sector, by favouring thus the better application of the potential of creative industry in entrepreneurship. The activities to be carried out within the programme create the value assessments favouring entrepreneurship in the creative sector and more widely in the society and raise the awareness of the local governments of the role of the creative industry in increasing the competitiveness of the regions. The implementation of the programme creates the preconditions for the increase of the share of engagement in the sector of creative industry.
Enterprise Estonia performs different activities within the programme through the announced procurements, no application rounds are announced in the programme of awareness of creative industry.
The programme has the following tasks among other things:
- collection and sharing of information about the situation and potential of creative industry at the national, regional and sectoral level;
- promotion of awareness, value assessments, knowledge and skills of the target groups of the programme about creative entrepreneurship and its potential as the part of the raiser of regional competitiveness, creator of economic development and jobs and the part of the knowledge-based economy.
- the intensification of entrepreneurship among the creative people and increasing knowledge from the viewpoint of promoting the competitiveness of creative entrepreneurship in the significant sectors.
- strengthening of the base of knowledge and skills needed for operating in the creative entrepreneurship and raising the awareness of the players in the creative industry of the different cooperation and financing possibilities and the better use of these possibilities;
- favouring the incurrence of cooperation networks between the creative entrepreneurs and contribution to the information flow and exchange of experience;
- offer input for the policy creating of the state and local level in the face of the information, knowledge, feasibility studies and impact analyses.
The programme will be directed to the following target groups:
- potential and operating creative entrepreneurs;
- creative associations and representative organisations;
- policy creators, officials, employees of local governments, opinion leaders of society and media;
- entrepreneurs, investors, managers of the companies and specialists;
- students, lecturers, pupils and teachers;
- wider public.
The incentive of creating the programme is the understanding that through the culture and creativity the values are created which enable to make the world more peculiar and improve its competitiveness.
The programme will be foremost focused on creating the positive attitudes and mediation of different skills for strengthening the viability of the creative enterprises.
For the development of creative industry in Estonia the awareness based on creative industry needs to be intensified among the creative people and entrepreneurs, in public sector and in society generally. Also, the programme to be established will be focused on the entrepreneurs operating in other sectors to perceive the importance of added value to be achieved with the involvement of the creative people and companies for staying in the local and international competition.
