- Product development grant is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
- The budget of the programme in the EU budget period 2007-2013 is 77 million euros.
- The applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
Objectives of product development grant
- to increase the sales of the Estonian entrepreneurs, including export sales.
- to motivate to create the new products and services with high added value.
Who can apply for the grant?
The companies entered to the Estonian Commercial Registry can apply for the grant for the preparation of product development or applied research, for making the applied research needed for product development and product development.
The research establishments can apply for the grant for the preparation of applied research and for making the applied research needed for product development.
What is the grant provided for?

For the preparation of product development or applied research. In the course of preliminary research the feasibility of planned product development or applied research and market potential of results are evaluated.

For carrying out the applied research needed for product development. In the course of applied research the applicability of theoretical concepts is controlled and new knowledge is obtained needed for the later product development.

For carrying out the product development, including the designing and planning of new product, developing of prototype and testing.
How big is the grant?
The amount of grant for making the preliminary research is up to 20 000 euros - up to 50% of the expenses for the preliminary research needed for the applied research and up to 50% of the expenses of the preliminary research of product development are compensated.
The amount of grant for making the applied research and product development is 31 000 up to 3 200 000 euros - up to 75% of the expenses of applied research and up to 50% of the product development expenses are financed.

The aim of this memo is to clarify the purpose and procedures of the evaluation process of the Estonian product development grant proposals to the experts participating in the evaluation process.
